Chapter 17
The Battle for the Woods
Malakor launches his final assault on the Whispering Woods. Samantha, armed with the Sunstone and aided by Elias and forest allies, prepares for the ultimate confrontation.
The air crackled, not with the usual gentle hum of life in the Whispering Woods, but with a raw, malevolent energy that made Samantha’s teeth ache. The Sunstone pulsed warm against her chest, a beacon of defiance against the encroaching gloom. Before her, the ancient trees, once vibrant and alive, now writhed in a sickly twilight, their leaves brittle and gray. Malakor’s corruption had spread like a plague, twisting the very soul of the forest.

A guttural roar, ripped from the throat of a creature twisted beyond recognition, echoed through the unnatural silence. The ground trembled. From the tangled, thorny thickets that marked the heart of Malakor’s influence, a wave of corrupted beasts emerged. Twisted treants with eyes like smoldering embers lumbered forward, their bark scarred and blackened. Shadow wolves, their fur matted with darkness, slunk from the undergrowth, their howls chilling Samantha to the bone.
