A Test of Trust
A dangerous creature, corrupted by Malakor, attacks. Samantha must choose whether to trust Elias's unconventional methods to save them.
The air in the Caves of Echoing Whispers had grown thick, heavy with the lingering dread of Malakor’s influence. Samantha felt it clinging to her like the damp moss on the cavern walls, a palpable chill that had nothing to do with the subterranean temperature. Elias walked beside her, his presence a steady warmth against the encroaching darkness. They had navigated the treacherous passages, deciphered the riddles of the ancient stones, and now, the path ahead promised a new kind of peril.
“We’re close,” Elias murmured, his voice low, echoing softly in the confined space. “The artifact should be just beyond this chamber.”
Samantha nodded, her hand instinctively going to the smooth, cool surface of the pendant Elias had given her, a simple silver leaf that pulsed with a faint, internal light. It was a constant reminder of his presence, even when he wasn’t near, a silent comfort. But the comfort was laced with unease. The closer they got to their goal, the more the Whispering Woods seemed to fight back, its magic twisting into something malevolent.
