The air grew heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and something else, something ancient and mournful. Samantha’s boots sank slightly into the mossy ground as she followed the winding path, Elias a silent, steady presence at her side. The Whispering Woods had led them here, to a place untouched by the encroaching rot, a place that felt both sacred and deeply unsettling.
“The Guardian Spirit spoke of this place,” Samantha murmured, her voice barely a whisper. “The Lake of Lost Memories. It said… it said it holds the key to understanding.”
Elias nodded, his gaze sweeping the dense foliage that pressed in around them. “A place of reflection, perhaps. Or a place of confronting what lies beneath.”
