Chapter 13
Episode 13
Fridah's Mercy to Javan's opinion concerning their marriage. She kneels, with tears cascading. She holds his hand, hugs him, wipes tears and promises him to love him honestly and never leave him but ensure that He is Jovial always and forever. Javan's Strength is retained, for His destiny helper has finally accepted to help him forever.
The salty air that had once felt like a balm now carried the sting of rejection. Javan watched Fridah’s retreating back, a hollow ache spreading through his chest. He’d laid bare his heart, his hopes, his very future, and she’d dismissed him with a laugh that felt like shards of glass. The image of her, so vibrant and alive, now seemed a cruel mirage. He was back to the desolate solitude, the gnawing despair that had been his constant companion before she’d entered his life. He’d truly believed she was his destiny, the one person who could pull him from the abyss. Now, the abyss seemed to have swallowed him whole. He walked the familiar, windswept path towards the sea, the waves crashing against the shore mirroring the turmoil within him. He sat on the cold, damp sand, the chill seeping into his bones, a physical manifestation of the frost that had settled over his spirit. He closed his eyes, picturing her face, her smile, the way her eyes sparkled when she spoke of her dreams. Had he imagined it all? Had he misinterpreted every shared glance, every gentle touch? The silence of the beach pressed in, a heavy blanket of unanswered questions. He felt a profound weariness, a longing for an end to this relentless cycle of hope and despair.
He didn’t know how long he sat there, lost in a fog of regret and self-pity. The sun had begun its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, a spectacle he usually found breathtaking, but tonight, it only served to highlight the fading light within him. A soft sound, a hesitant approach, broke through his reverie. He looked up, his vision blurred by unshed tears. It was Fridah. She stood a few feet away, her expression unreadable in the dimming light. He braced himself for another dismissal, another wave of pain.
But then, something shifted. She took a tentative step closer, then another, until she was standing directly before him. Her eyes, usually so full of laughter, were now filled with a profound sadness that mirrored his own. Without a word, she sank to her knees in the sand, the rough grains clinging to her skirt. Tears, hot and bright, began to cascade down her cheeks, tracing paths through the salt spray on her skin. Javan watched, stunned, as she reached out a trembling hand and gently took his. Her touch was cool, yet it sent a jolt of warmth through him.
