Luke watched Zoid across the crowded coffee shop, the blue of their hair a vibrant splash against the muted tones of the afternoon. He’d seen them before, of course. Who hadn’t? Their fingers had brushed, a spark of something unexpected, and Zoid had looked up, those dark eyes wide with a surprise that mirrored his own. He’d been struck by the intensity of their gaze, the way they held his attention without demanding it.
