The pleasure from taking time off work
While zoid was watching a movie luke came home early from work, first he asked zoid about nova she was perfectly fine at daycare, then zoid asked him why did he take time off and luke replied because he knew today was the first day of nova going in daycare and he wanted some alone time with zoid.
The afternoon sun slanted through the living room window, painting stripes of warmth across the worn rug where Zoid was sprawled, lost in the labyrinth of a fantasy novel. The quiet hum of the refrigerator was the only sound, a peaceful counterpoint to the vibrant worlds Zoid usually inhabited. Then, the familiar click of the lock, the soft thud of a briefcase, and Luke’s voice, a melody Zoid had come to cherish.
"Hey, you," Luke said, his tone laced with a gentle weariness that Zoid recognized as the residue of a long day. He stepped into the room, his usual impeccable appearance slightly softened by the unbuttoning of his collar. Zoid’s heart gave a familiar, happy lurch.
"Hey yourself," Zoid replied, pushing the book aside and sitting up, a genuine smile gracing their lips. "How was work?"
