The morning after the intimate tempest that had swept through their lives felt both serene and charged. Sunlight, softened by the sheer curtains, painted hazy stripes across the rumpled sheets. Zoid stirred, a languid stretch unfolding through their limbs, the lingering warmth of Luke a comforting presence beside them. But as consciousness solidified, a wave of nausea, sharp and unexpected, crashed over them. They bolted upright, a gasp escaping their lips, and scrambled out of bed, making a beeline for the bathroom. The porcelain was cool against their clammy skin as they retched, a deep, guttural sound of distress.

When the violent urge subsided, leaving them weak and shaky, Zoid’s gaze fell upon the small, plastic pregnancy test lying innocently on the counter, a stark white against the tiled surface. A dizzying swirl of emotions – shock, a flicker of fear, a nascent, bewildered joy – washed over Zoid. They sank onto the closed toilet lid, the test clutched in their hand, their mind racing a mile a minute. Luke. What would Luke say? Their relationship, still so new, so vibrant, had been built on shared passion and growing affection, but this… this was a monumental shift. It was a future they hadn't dared to fully envision, a path that diverged from the carefree intimacy they’d so recently embraced.
