Clingy zoid pt.2
Morning after
The morning light, a soft, buttery haze, filtered through the blinds, painting stripes across the duvet. Zoid stirred, a sleepy sigh escaping their lips, and burrowed deeper into the warmth beside them. Luke’s arm was a comforting weight around their waist, his steady breathing a lullaby. Yet, even in the haze of sleep, a familiar anxiety began to prickle. He was still here. He hadn't left. Not even for a moment.
Zoid’s eyes fluttered open, scanning the room as if expecting him to have vanished. The dog, a fluffy bundle of energy named Comet, was already a restless presence at the foot of the bed, tail thumping a silent rhythm against the mattress. But it was Luke’s stillness that Zoid found themselves fixated on. He was awake, or at least stirring, his eyelids fluttering.
“Morning,” Luke murmured, his voice a low rumble against Zoid’s ear. He tightened his grip, pulling Zoid closer still.
