Luke watched Zoid across the dimly lit room, a soft smile playing on his lips. The late afternoon sun, beginning its descent, cast long shadows that danced with the dust motes suspended in the air. Zoid was engrossed in a book, their brow furrowed in concentration, a stray strand of vibrant blue hair falling across their forehead. They absently pushed it back with a paint-stained thumb, a smudge of cerulean now adorning their skin. Luke found himself captivated by the small, unconscious gestures, the unstudied grace that Zoid possessed.

Perfection. It was a word he’d often associated with himself, a silent mantra he’d lived by for years. The sculpted physique, the meticulously styled hair, the curated wardrobe – it was all a carefully constructed facade, a testament to a relentless pursuit of an ideal that now felt hollow. He’d spent so long chasing this elusive notion of flawlessness, believing it was what others desired, what he himself should embody. But Zoid… Zoid was an anomaly.

They were a beautiful, chaotic explosion of color and personality. Their oversized tees, often bearing faded band logos or abstract art, hung loosely on their frame, a stark contrast to the tailored shirts Luke favored. Their baggy jeans spoke of comfort and a disregard for conventional aesthetics. And then there was the blue hair, a defiant streak against the muted tones of the world, held back by a simple black headband adorned with a minuscule, almost shy, bow. It wasn’t the kind of look that screamed ‘perfection’; it was the kind of look that whispered ‘authenticity.’
