The morning sun, still shy and peeking through the blinds, cast long, lazy shadows across the room. Zoid stirred, a sleepy sigh escaping their lips as they burrowed deeper into the warmth beside them. It was a comfortable warmth, a solid presence that had felt both new and strangely familiar for the past few days. Luke. The thought of him brought a soft smile to their face, a smile that felt less like a fleeting amusement and more like a deep, settled peace.
Luke, already awake, was watching Zoid with those mesmerizing emerald eyes. There was a tenderness in his gaze that Zoid was still getting accustomed to, a softness that belied the sharp angles of his jaw and the sculpted definition of his arms. He reached out, his fingers ghosting over Zoid’s blue-streaked hair, a gentle caress that sent a shiver of contentment through them.
“Morning,” Luke murmured, his voice a low rumble that vibrated pleasantly against Zoid’s skin.
