Luke surprises Zoid by confessing his own strong feelings, admitting he's drawn to Zoid's personality and not just their appearance. This validates Zoid's hopes.

The air in the small café buzzed with the low hum of conversation and the clatter of ceramic mugs. Outside, the city lights had begun to bloom, painting streaks of orange and purple across the darkening sky. Zoid watched Luke across the table, his blond hair catching the dim light, his emerald eyes, usually so bright and full of life, now holding a thoughtful, almost hesitant, quality. They had been talking for hours, the usual easy banter replaced by a deeper, more vulnerable exchange. Zoid’s heart, usually a steady rhythm, had begun to tap out a nervous beat against their ribs. They had confessed their own burgeoning feelings, the surprise and delight on Luke’s face a balm to their persistent insecurities. But still, a thread of anxiety remained, a whisper that perhaps it was just a fleeting moment, a shared curiosity that would fade with the dawn.

Luke reached across the table, his fingers brushing against Zoid’s, sending a jolt of warmth through them. Zoid’s breath hitched, their gaze locking with his.

“Zoid,” Luke began, his voice a low murmur that seemed to cut through the ambient noise, “there’s something I… I need to tell you.”
