Zoid’s fingers traced the condensation on the glass, the ice cubes clinking a nervous rhythm against the rim. The air in the small cafe was thick with the scent of roasted coffee and something else, something Zoid couldn't quite place – anticipation, perhaps, or the quiet hum of a city waking up. It was a Tuesday morning, the kind that usually felt mundane, but today, it held the weight of a decision. A big one.

They’d spent the entire night tossing and turning, the image of Luke’s emerald eyes swimming behind their eyelids. Luke, with his sunshine hair and the easy grace that seemed to come so naturally to him. Luke, who had looked at Zoid with a warmth that felt both intoxicating and terrifying. It was that warmth, that genuine interest in Zoid’s eyes, their worn band tee, the way they tucked a stray strand of blue hair behind their ear, that had chipped away at Zoid’s carefully constructed walls.

For so long, Zoid had navigated intimacy like a skilled sailor, charting courses through fleeting connections, always keeping a safe distance. It was comfortable, predictable. But Luke… Luke was an uncharted territory, a siren’s call that Zoid found impossible to ignore. They wanted to know the man behind the perfect facade, the one who had a surprisingly gentle laugh and a way of listening that made Zoid feel seen.
