The Shepherd's Surprise
A shepherd's flock has wandered off. Russo, with his keen senses, helps track them down, darting through fields and over fences like a true mountain creature.
The sun, a cheerful golden coin, had barely begun to peek over the rolling hills when The Owners, Amy Kathryn and Rex, packed the last of their provisions into the sturdy knapsacks. Their grand adventure, a trek through the Whispering Woods and up the gentle slopes of Mount Cuddle, was finally underway. Baby Blue Bears, his little Chihuahua heart thrumming with anticipation, trotted eagerly beside Rex, his tail a blur of excitement. But where, oh where, was Russo?
A low rumble, suspiciously like a purr mixed with a snore, emanated from the plush armchair by the fireplace. Amy Kathryn sighed, a fond, exasperated sound. "Russo! Adventure awaits! No more napping, you little mountain goat!"
Russo’s ears twitched, then flopped back down. He stretched languidly, a tiny, sausage-shaped body unfurling like a miniature accordion. He yawned, revealing a surprisingly pink tongue and a set of teeth that had, on more than one occasion, been responsible for the untimely demise of important documents and the occasional stray dollar bill. He blinked his big, soulful eyes at Amy Kathryn, a silent question hanging in the air: *Is there breakfast involved?*
