The air in Master Eldrin’s study was thick with the scent of aged parchment and something else, something akin to ozone after a storm. Princess Nevera traced the intricate patterns on the heavy oak table, her gaze fixed on the flickering candlelight that cast dancing shadows across the ancient tomes lining the walls. Eldrin sat opposite her, his eyes, usually sharp and knowing, now held a distant, almost mournful quality.
“You speak of destruction, Master Eldrin,” Nevera began, her voice a soft murmur in the quiet room. “Of surges and chaos. But the legends… they are so fragmented. What is it you truly know about the Goddess of the Rainbow?”
Eldrin sighed, a sound like dry leaves skittering across stone. He picked up a small, tarnished silver locket from the table, turning it over and over in his gnarled fingers. “The legends, Princess, are like shattered mirrors. Each fragment reflects a truth, but only when pieced together do they reveal the whole image.” He looked at Nevera, his gaze piercing. “The Goddess of the Rainbow is not a being of pure malice, as some would have you believe. She is an embodiment of cosmic balance, a force that periodically realigns the very fabric of existence.”
