The air in the cavernous space tasted like damp earth and forgotten dreams. Robin, still reeling from the dizzying descent, scrambled to his feet, his rifle clutched tight. The light, a pale, ethereal glow, seemed to emanate from the very air, casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on his eyes. He was no longer in the shattered remnants of a Belgian farmhouse. This place… this place was alive with a vibrant, unsettling energy. Towering, phosphorescent fungi pulsed with a soft luminescence, their caps wider than his outstretched arms. Strange, bioluminescent vines snaked up colossal trees whose bark shimmered like polished obsidian. The scent of exotic blossoms, intoxicating and slightly cloying, hung heavy.

“This is no battlefield,” he murmured, his voice a rough rasp against the profound silence. The distant roar of artillery, the frantic shouts of his comrades, the very smell of cordite – all had vanished, replaced by this alien symphony of rustles and whispers. He took a tentative step, his boot sinking slightly into a carpet of moss that glowed with an inner light. He was utterly alone, adrift in a sea of impossible beauty and unnerving strangeness.

Then, a voice. It wasn’t spoken aloud, not exactly. It was a resonance within his mind, a melody woven from moonlight and ancient stone. *“You are not lost, soldier. Merely… misplaced.”*
