It wasn’t just a metaphorical peak; it was a project, a colossal undertaking that had loomed for months, mocking my every attempt to begin. The Internal Critic, that venomous shadow, had been having a field day, its whispers now a chorus of doom: *“See? It’s too big. You’re not equipped. You’ll fail, just like before.”*
But something had shifted. The Spark of Curiosity, once a fragile flicker, was now a steady, insistent flame. It had shown me the map, whispered the possibility of a different path. I’d spent weeks poring over the terrain, learning the language of growth, practicing the art of the pivot. Now, it was time to ascend.
The project, let’s call it ‘The Citadel,’ was a complex web of interconnected tasks, each one a potential pitfall. My initial approach had been the old way: stare at the summit, feel overwhelmed, and retreat. The Citadel was designed by a mind that favored rigid perfection, a blueprint that seemed to demand an impossible level of foresight. Every potential issue was anticipated, every contingency planned for, leaving no room for error, no space for learning. It was a monument to the fixed mindset.
