The air in my mind, usually a murky swamp of anxieties, felt different. It was still there, of course, the familiar hum of the Internal Critic, a low thrumming beneath the surface of my thoughts. For so long, it had been the soundtrack to my life, a relentless narrator of my inadequacies. "You call *that* progress?" it would sneer, its voice a dry rustle of dead leaves. "You're just fooling yourself. This will never work." It was a shadow I’d learned to live with, a constant companion on this winding, often treacherous path. But something had shifted. The Spark of Curiosity, that tiny, insistent flicker, had grown, and with it, a burgeoning awareness. I was no longer simply a passive recipient of its pronouncements. I was starting to question.
