The Sealed Room
Trapped in the darkened observatory, Eliza uses the resonance core to communicate with the sphere, revealing a hidden message from Viktor that opens the door. They escape just as the floor begins to crack, and race toward the bell tower, only to find a light already burning in its highest window.
The blue glow of the resonance core cast long, trembling shadows across the observatory floor. Eliza’s heart pounded in her ears as she stared at the locked door. The distorted voice from the sphere had faded, leaving only the faint hum of the core and the ragged breathing of her companions.
“Try the door,” Mr. Griggs said, his voice tight.
Thomas Crane rushed forward and shoved his shoulder against the heavy oak. It didn’t budge. He tried again, grunting with effort, but the lock held fast. “It’s solid,” he said, stepping back. “We’ll need something stronger.”
