Chapter 8
The Binary Heart
Lina, Jonas, Eliza, and Mindaugas enter the dark tower. They navigate a labyrinth of corridors and find the control room, where Jonas uses his dream-gifted understanding to interpret a binary code on the screens. As Mindaugas struggles with residual wolf instincts, Jonas decodes the sequence and triggers the signal's shutdown. The tower begins to destabilize, and the wolves outside howl in response, forcing the group to flee before the structure collapses.
The door sealed behind us, and the dark pressed in like a living thing. I held Jonas's hand on one side, Eliza's on the other. Ahead, Mindaugas's footsteps scraped against concrete. He didn't hesitate.
"There's a stairwell," he said. His voice echoed, thin and hollow. "I remember it. Down."
"Down?" I asked.
