“Remember that terrible karaoke night at the dive bar downtown?” Ray’s voice, a low rumble that still sent a shiver down Andrez’s spine, broke the spell. “You, me, and a bottle of cheap champagne. I swear, I thought you were going to serenade the entire bar with that off-key rendition of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’”
Andrez laughed, a genuine, unrestrained sound. “Hey! I had passion, if not pitch. And you were supposed to be my backup singer. You completely bailed on me.” The memory, once a source of mild annoyance, now felt like a fond anecdote, a testament to their youthful bravings.
