Ray and Andrez plan their first date since reuniting. It's a simple coffee, but filled with the weight of possibility and excitement.

The drive back from Mark and Chloe’s wedding was a quiet hum of contentment for Andrez. The car, usually a space for podcasts or the radio, felt charged with a different kind of energy tonight. Ray’s hand, which had rested on her thigh for most of the drive back from the reception venue, finally settled on her knee as they pulled into her driveway. The warmth of his touch, a familiar yet startlingly new sensation, sent a shiver down her spine.

“I had a really good time tonight, Andrez,” Ray said, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the car’s chassis and into her very bones.

Andrez turned to him, her heart doing a little flutter-kick against her ribs. “Me too, Ray. It was… perfect.” She let the word hang in the air, heavy with all the unspoken things it contained. Perfect, not just the wedding, but the entire evening. The laughter, the dancing, the rediscovery of old jokes, and, of course, the electric current that had hummed between them from the moment he’d taken her hand on the dance floor.
