Liam’s vision swam, the edges of his room blurring into an unsettling kaleidoscope of muted greys and sickly greens. The hum that had become his constant companion since the last dose of 3H-O intensified, vibrating not just in his ears, but deep within his bones. He clutched his head, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. The entities. They were still here, their spectral forms coalescing in the periphery of his sight, their voices a discordant symphony of whispers and guttural pronouncements that clawed at the edges of his sanity.

“You perceive,” one of them, a shimmering, amorphous silhouette that seemed to absorb all light, intoned. Its voice was like grinding stones, ancient and devoid of warmth. “You witness the inevitable erosion.”

Another, a sharp, angular construct of shifting geometric planes, added, its voice a series of crystalline chimes, “The cycle nears its conclusion. The human experiment, a flawed iteration, is to be… reset.”
