My sketchbook lay open on my lap, its pages filled with the swirling patterns of clouds, the sharp angles of mountain peaks, the tender unfurling of fern fronds. But today, the ink felt hesitant, the charcoal smudged with a doubt that had begun to bloom within me like a shadow flower.
