Her apartment, a cozy nest of bio-luminescent fungi and gently pulsing data streams, was usually a haven. But lately, a disquiet had settled, like static on a clear broadcast. It began with the whispers, then the glitches, and now, the ghosts. These weren't the friendly digital specters that sometimes flitted through the city’s networks, merely echoes of forgotten data. These were different. They flickered at the edges of her vision, shimmering with a raw, untamed energy that felt both ancient and alarmingly new.
Her gaze drifted to the corner, where the plastic-encased sweater lay. It was a riot of color, a testament to an art form long superseded by bio-knitting and molecular weaving. Yet, its threads seemed to vibrate with a silent song, a melody that resonated with the unsettling occurrences. She’d run every diagnostic, consulted every known archive, but the sweater remained an enigma, its knitted patterns an alien language.
“Copernicus,” she murmured, her voice soft, addressing the ambient intelligence that permeated her living space. “Are you detecting any anomalies beyond the usual flux?”
