Silas's facade cracks, revealing his true desire to possess the Sundered Spellbook for his own power. He becomes more aggressive in his pursuit, forcing Elara to confront him.
The air in the study had grown thick and cloying, the scent of old paper and dust suddenly suffocating. Silas Blackwood, who had been leaning against the bookshelf with an unnerving stillness, pushed himself upright. The casual, almost benevolent smile that had graced his lips moments before had vanished, replaced by a hard, predatory gleam in his eyes that sent a shiver down my spine. Max, who had been dozing by the hearth, raised his head, a low, guttural growl rumbling in his chest. His fur bristled along his spine, and his gaze was fixed, unwavering, on Silas.
"You misunderstand, Elara," Silas said, his voice losing its honeyed tone and taking on a sharper edge. "I am not here to merely *advise* you. I am here to *claim* what is rightfully mine. Or rather, what was stolen from me."
My blood ran cold. The cryptic pronouncements, the veiled warnings, the almost paternal concern – it had all been a performance. A carefully constructed facade to get close to the spellbook. To *me*. "What are you talking about?" I managed, my voice trembling despite my best efforts. "This book… it’s mine. I found it in my house."
