Chapter 13
The Gate of Choices
With the Second Gate mended, the child contemplates the weight of their actions. The Gate of Choices reflects every path not taken, a powerful lesson.

Mended. The jagged edges of reality, the moments that had ripped and torn, were smooth again. But the quiet wasn't empty; it was full. Full of what might have been.
I sat on my bed, my fingers tracing the worn seams of my quilt. Nyx had said the Second Gate showed not what was, but what *could have been*. And oh, it had shown me. The Elara who had sailed the seven seas, salt spray on her face and adventure in her heart. The Elara who had learned to speak with the stars, her voice a celestial choir. Each one, a possibility, a whisper of a life unlived, and each one beautiful in its own way.
It was overwhelming. My own life, the one I was living, felt suddenly… small. Like a single thread in a tapestry woven with infinite, dazzling patterns. I’d saved my reality, the one I knew, the one with my parents and my cat and the chipped mug I loved. But at what cost? Had I erased those other Elaras? Had I stolen their potential existence?
