The Riddle of the Roots
The trio encounters a tangled maze of ancient roots. A peculiar inscription on a gnarled root presents a riddle they must solve to pass.
The air grew cooler as we ventured deeper, the sunlight dappling through the leaves in shifting patterns that played tricks on my eyes. Mama walked with her usual serene grace, her soft fur blending with the mossy bark of the trees. Beside me, Deividas shuffled his paws, his whiskers twitching with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. The shiny object, tucked safely in Mama’s pouch, seemed to hum with a silent energy, a constant reminder of the puzzle that had brought us here.
We had followed the last clue, a faint marking on a fallen leaf, to a part of the forest I’d never seen before. It was older here, hushed and solemn. Giant trees, their trunks thick as houses, stretched towards the sky, their branches interwoven like the fingers of sleeping giants. The ground beneath our feet was a tapestry of fallen leaves, soft and yielding, muffling our footsteps.
Suddenly, Mama stopped. I bumped into her, my curiosity piqued. “What is it, Mama?”
