The forest floor, usually so vibrant with the rustling of leaves and the scurrying of tiny feet, seemed to hold its breath. Sunlight, dappled and shy, filtered through the dense canopy, casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on the eye. Pudlius, his small heart thrumming with a mixture of excitement and a peculiar sort of reverence, traced the smooth, cool surface of the object he’d found. It lay nestled in the moss, its gleam strangely muted in the dim light, as if reluctant to reveal its full glory. Mama sat beside him, her gaze soft and thoughtful, her fur a warm contrast to the cool greens and browns of their surroundings.

“This reminds me, Pudlius,” Mama began, her voice a low murmur, like the gentle sigh of the wind through the pines, “of a tale my own mother used to tell me. A tale of a time when the forest sang.”

Pudlius looked up, his bright eyes wide with anticipation. Mama’s tales were always the most wonderful, weaving threads of ancient magic into the fabric of their everyday lives. “Sang, Mama? Like the birds?”
