The morning fog clung to San Francisco like a shroud as Jaxson met Detective Rossi at a quiet café near the edge of Chinatown. He slid into the booth across from her, the silver locket warm against his chest. Rossi sipped her coffee, her sharp eyes taking in his restless energy.
“You look like you haven’t slept,” she said.
“I found something,” Jaxson replied, pulling out the locket. He opened it, and the tiny hologram flickered to life again, his grandmother’s voice echoing softly. Rossi leaned in, her expression hardening as the message ended.
