Chapter 7: The Core
Bruce descends into the factory's basement to destroy the power core. There, he discovers Alfie and Danny have been reconstructed into animatronics, their minds trapped inside mechanical bodies. A confrontation ensues, and Bruce must choose between destroying the core and saving his friends.
The stairwell was narrow, the steps slick with something that glistened in the dim light of Bruce’s flashlight. He moved carefully, one hand on the cold wall, the other gripping the crowbar. The air grew heavier, thick with the smell of oil and rust. Every creak of the stairs sent a jolt through him, but he kept going. He had to. There was no turning back now.
The basement was vast, a cavernous space filled with pipes and machinery. The flashlight beam cut through the darkness, revealing a tangle of conduits and cables that snaked across the floor and up the walls. At the center of the room, a massive column of steel rose from the ground, pulsing with a faint blue light. The core. It hummed with a low, resonant frequency that vibrated through his bones.
He approached it, the crowbar raised. This was it. One good swing, and the whole system would collapse. The animatronics would stop. The nightmare would end.
