The parchment felt cool beneath Ren’s fingertips, a familiar comfort that was slowly being leached away by an encroaching unease. They sat cross-legged on the floor of their studio, the sketchbook open before them, its pages a vibrant testament to the world that had bloomed under their hand. Coco, with her bright, questioning eyes, was perched on the arm of Ren’s chair, her paper-thin form rustling with anticipation. Beside them, Bobo, his wise, inked gaze fixed on the page, sat with a quiet stillness that always seemed to anchor Ren.
But something was wrong. The air in the studio, usually alive with the hum of creation, felt heavy, stagnant. A subtle tremor ran through the very ink of the drawings, a dissonance that made Ren’s stomach clench. It had started as a faint smudge, a shadow that seemed to cling to the edges of the forest, a subtle blurring of the once-sharp lines. “Ren,” Coco’s voice, usually so clear and bright, was tinged with a tremor. “The trees… they look sadder today.”
