Chapter 14
Coco's Brave Stand
Coco faces the Antagonist head-on, her bravery a bright light. She distracts it, allowing Ren and Bobo time to think, even though fear gnaws at her own resolve.
Coco stood at the precipice, her heart a hummingbird trapped in her chest. Before her, the world bled into a murky grey, a stark contrast to the vibrant hues Ren had so carefully curated. This was the Antagonist’s domain, a place where inspiration withered and dreams turned to dust. She could feel its oppressive presence, a suffocating silence that pressed in on all sides. It was a void, a hungry emptiness that sought to consume everything it touched.
Ren’s voice, though distant, echoed in her mind, a gentle reminder of the trust placed in her. *“You are brave, Coco. A tremor ran through the grey ground, and a shape began to coalesce in the distance. It wasn't a shape with clear lines or defined edges, but rather a shifting, amorphous mass of shadow. It oozed, it writhed, it seemed to absorb the very light that dared to exist. Coco swallowed, her throat suddenly dry. She could see Ren and Bobo, huddled together behind a gnarled, ink-stained tree, their faces etched with worry. They were counting on her.
