Eleanor found herself drawn to this shadowed sanctuary, a place where the manicured lawns and watchful eyes of the house felt a world away. It was here, amidst the untamed beauty of climbing roses and the scent of damp earth, that she had agreed to meet Julian. She smoothed the folds of her dove-grey muslin dress, her heart a frantic bird against her ribs.
