He sat on his porch swing, the worn wood groaning under his weight, and watched as Anna, a whirlwind of bright pink shorts and boundless energy, practically skipped down the lane. Her younger sister, Serina, a blur of sunshine yellow, chased after her, giggling with the unrestrained joy only an eight-year-old could muster.
