The air in Mark’s small, cluttered apartment crackled with an energy that had nothing to do with the faulty wiring. It vibrated with the sheer, unadulterated presence of the Fitness Ghost. She was a shimmering entity, not quite solid, like heat haze on a summer road, but with a form that was undeniably athletic. Muscles rippled beneath her spectral skin, and her eyes, twin embers of emerald light, fixed on Mark with an intensity that could melt steel.

“You think this is training?” Her voice was a low, resonant hum, laced with a disdain that pricked at Mark’s already bruised ego. He stood panting, his t-shirt plastered to his back with sweat, having barely managed to complete fifty push-ups. Fifty! He’d thought that was a decent warm-up before the ghost had materialized.

“I... I’m trying,” Mark stammered, his chest heaving. He was used to pushing himself, sure, but this was something else entirely. The ghost’s mere proximity seemed to amplify the strain on his muscles, turning every movement into an agonizing ordeal.
