The guttural shriek echoed through the cavern, a sound that vibrated deep in their bones, a primal terror made manifest. It was the sound of the bicho, the creature they had so foolishly disturbed. Dust rained from the cavern ceiling, dislodged by the sheer force of its roar. Panic, a cold, sharp blade, sliced through the fragile camaraderie that had begun to form among the disparate souls trapped on Osvald.

"Move!" Joan’s voice, surprisingly clear and strong above the din, cut through the rising hysteria. She didn’t need to tell them twice. The fragile hope of a hidden sanctuary, the thrill of discovery in the cavern’s depths, evaporated like mist under a harsh sun, replaced by the stark, unyielding reality of their situation. They were prey.

Leopoldo, his face a mask of grim concentration, was already scrambling. His keen eyes, usually alight with intellectual curiosity, were wide with a desperate pragmatism. He grabbed a discarded length of rope, his mind racing, calculating trajectories, escape routes, anything but the behemoth lumbering towards them. "The entrance! We must reach the entrance!" he yelled, his voice strained.
