Chapter 6
Confrontation
Iris faces Silas Thorne, a key figure in the organization. In a tense showdown, the truth behind Lilly's near-fatal encounter is finally revealed, exposing a complex and disturbing motive.

I’d expected sterile, impersonal, a place where secrets could be neatly filed away. Instead, I found myself in a study that felt more like a lair, a testament to a man who hoarded not just information, but perhaps much more. Books lined the walls, their spines worn smooth, whispering tales of forgotten histories and shadowy dealings. Persistence. That was one word for it. Reckless curiosity, a burning need to peel back the layers of deception, that was closer to the truth. I’d followed the breadcrumbs, ignored the warnings, and now I was here, staring into the eyes of a man I suspected knew everything. The note, the fragmented whispers, the chilling realization that Lilly wasn't just a random victim, but a target. And Silas Thorne, I was certain, was the gatekeeper to that truth.
