Chapter 6
Chapter 6: The Reckoning
Barby and Ken, with the ledger from the hidden vault, decide to consult a lawyer and the historical society. They learn the unknown texter is a distant cousin who feared family shame. Laura joins them as they present the evidence, clearing Thomas Hartley's name and revealing Jeremiah Sharge's true legacy. The chapter ends with Barby finding peace, the family's past acknowledged, and a renewed sense of connection.

Barby nodded, her fingers tracing the edge of the ledger. “Who could it be? Another family member? Someone who wants to protect Jeremiah’s reputation?”
