A New Family Dynamic

Kabaari actively encourages his siblings, celebrating their successes. He finds a new sense of fulfillment in their growth, his own identity evolving.

Kabaari watched Efeeloo, the youngest, meticulously arrange a small collection of smooth, grey river stones on the polished oak table. Each stone was chosen with a deliberate grace, placed with a gentle precision that Kabaari, in his younger days, would have dismissed as trifling. Now, however, a warmth bloomed in his chest, unfamiliar and surprisingly pleasant. Efeeloo’s brow was furrowed in concentration, his tongue peeking out ever so slightly from the corner of his mouth, a familiar sign of deep thought.

“They tell a story, don’t they, Efeeloo?” Kabaari’s voice, once sharp with unspoken judgment, was now soft, laced with genuine curiosity.

Efeeloo looked up, his eyes wide with a flicker of surprise, then a slow, unfolding smile. “They do, Kabaari. This one,” he pointed to a particularly flat, dark stone, “is the quiet observer. And this one,” he indicated a rounder, lighter stone, “is the one who listens to the wind.”
