Chapter 5
A Father's Shadow
With the letters clutched in her hand, Nora gathers her courage to approach her father. She asks him about the secrets she's uncovered, her voice trembling slightly, hoping for answers that will explain their fragmented family.
The weight of the brittle paper felt immense in Nora’s small hands. Each letter, a whisper from a past she’d never known, a past that had shaped the silent, echoing halls of their home. She found him in his study, a room even more imposing than the rest of the house, filled with dark wood and the scent of old leather. He sat at his massive desk, his back to her, a silhouette against the fading light. The silence stretched, thick and heavy, punctuated only by the ticking of a grandfather clock in the hall. Nora swallowed, her throat dry.
