Chapter 8
The Merchant's Folly
When the merchant tried to snatch the flower, the neighbors surprised him! They didn't hurt him, but they showed him how foolish and selfish he was. The merchant, embarrassed, ran away empty-handed.

The shimmering coins, nestled amongst the blossoms like dew drops, glinted enticingly. The merchant’s breath hitched. This was his chance.
He burst through the low garden gate, his shadow falling long and menacing across the dewy grass. "That flower is mine!" he declared, his voice a harsh rasp against the morning quiet. He lunged forward, his hands outstretched, aiming to snatch the precious bloom.
