Her augmented reality goggles, usually a riot of glowing pathways and data streams, were blessedly quiet for the moment, displaying only the raw, beautiful chaos of the waking metropolis. The chip, a sleek, obsidian shard, felt heavy in her pocket. It was a weight of secrets, a burden that had transformed her life from the predictable rhythm of deliveries to a desperate, heart-pounding flight.

She’d barely slept. Every alleyway seemed to hold a lurking enforcer, every flickering light a potential trap. The memory of Enforcer Unit 7’s relentless pursuit, its metallic footsteps echoing in the narrow streets, sent a shiver down her spine. She’d outmaneuvered it, of course. Anya was good. Anya adjusted the hood of her worn synth-leather jacket, pulling it tighter around her face.
