The email notification pulsed on my screen, a tiny beacon in the vast, overwhelming sea of job listings. "Application Received - Awaiting Review." My heart did a little flutter, a mix of hope and pure, unadulterated dread. This was it. The first real test. I’d poured hours into crafting that application, meticulously weaving in every keyword Career Compass had taught me, tailoring my resume until it gleamed with relevance. I remembered the chapter in Career Compass’s digital guide, the one titled "The Impersonal Oracle." It had warned me about these AI systems. They scanned for specific phrases, for patterns, for a certain quantifiable rhythm in the language. Too much jargon, and it would flag you as an imposter. Too little, and you’d be invisible. It was a tightrope walk, and I felt my digital feet starting to wobble.
