Chapter 29
The Star's Whisper
Mikutis and his friends return to the farm, feeling the hollow ache of the lost memory. Bobutė comforts him. They find the silver feather and follow its faint light to the old well, where a star-watcher appears, a being of light that reveals the stars have noticed Mikutis's sacrifice. The watcher offers Mikutis a choice: stay on the farm or become a guardian of the sky. Mikutis hesitates, feeling a pull toward the stars, but the chapter ends with a new whisper from the feather, hinting at a coming journey.

Bobutė pressed her warm side against him. “It will feel strange for a while, little one. But joy is like the tide. It always returns.”
Mikutis nodded, but his eyes drifted to the windmill. On its railing lay the silver feather, catching the last rays of sunlight. It shimmered with a light that was not of the farm.
