Chapter 10

Foster Care's Cold Embrace

As a result of the escalating issues at home, Charles is placed into the foster care system. He is moved to a new environment, hoping for stability and care. However, he lands with an alcoholic foster family who, despite their superficial claims of affection, are verbally abusive and emotionally neglectful. They belittle him, making him feel like a burden. Charles yearns for genuine connection and understanding, but he finds only more rejection and alienation. This experience further deepens his sense of isolation and reinforces his belief that he is unlovable and destined to be alone.
