The air in the school cafeteria hummed with the usual midday buzz, a symphony of clattering trays, hurried conversations, and the occasional eruption of laughter. Kyle and Lucca, nursing their lukewarm pizza slices, scanned the room, their eyes, trained by weeks of observation, catching the subtle shifts in mood and the furtive glances exchanged between classmates. Samira sat alone at a corner table, her gaze fixed on her untouched sandwich, a familiar anxiety clouding her features. The Casewhill Detectives had successfully returned her locket, a small victory that had sent ripples of confidence through their fledgling club. But the relief that had washed over Samira then, while palpable, had been tempered by an undercurrent of something else – a lingering unease that Kyle’s sharp eyes had noticed, even as he celebrated their triumph.

“She’s still worried about something,” Kyle murmured, nudging Lucca with his elbow. “Even after we found it.”

Lucca followed Kyle’s gaze. “Yeah, I noticed that too. She was so happy when she got her locket back, but it was like… like that wasn’t the whole story.”
