Kyle and Lucca prepare to pass on their knowledge. The detective club is set to continue, ensuring their positive impact on the school endures for years to come.
The late afternoon sun, a warm, buttery light, slanted through the tall windows of Ms. Gable’s classroom. Dust motes danced in the golden shafts, a silent ballet in the quiet space. Kyle and Lucca sat opposite each other at a worn wooden table, their usual boisterous energy subdued, replaced by a thoughtful stillness. Spread between them were notebooks, dog-eared and filled with the scrawled accounts of their detective adventures – Samira’s locket, the vanishing lunchbox, the artistic dispute, and so many more. The air hummed with a gentle nostalgia, a sense of an era drawing to a close, yet also a budding excitement for what was to come.
“It’s… weird, isn’t it?” Lucca said, his voice a little softer than usual. He traced the worn cover of their first case file, Samira’s locket, with a fingertip. “Thinking about not being the ones heading up the Casewhill Detectives anymore.”
Kyle nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. “It is. But it’s a good weird, right? Like when you finish a really tough puzzle and there’s that moment of quiet satisfaction before you start looking for the next one.” He glanced around the room, at the faded posters on the walls, the well-loved bookshelves, the sturdy desk where Ms. Gable always sat, her presence a quiet anchor. “We built this. And it’s… it’s ready.”
