Lucca, eager to solve the lunchbox mystery, makes a bold move based on a hunch. His quick thinking might be the key, or it could lead them down the wrong path.
The scent of stale pizza and forgotten gym socks hung heavy in the air of the abandoned art room, a space that had become the unofficial headquarters of the Casewhill Detectives. Dust motes danced in the single beam of sunlight slanting through the grimy window, illuminating a chaotic landscape of overturned easels and dried-out paint pots. Kyle, perched precariously on an upturned bucket, tapped his pen against a dog-eared notebook. The lunchbox mystery, the latest puzzle to land on their doorstep, was proving as stubbornly elusive as a shy chameleon.
"So, we've established it wasn't the usual suspects," Kyle mused, his brow furrowed in concentration. "No one admitted to seeing anything, no one heard anything unusual. It just… vanished." He scribbled a note, the sound of the pen scratching against paper the only disturbance in the room. "And the trail of crumbs? It led us all the way to the cafeteria doors, then… poof."
Lucca, sprawled on a paint-splattered drop cloth, sighed dramatically. "It’s like it sprouted legs and walked away, Kyle. Or maybe a rogue squirrel with a penchant for tuna sandwiches. We’ve interviewed everyone from Mrs. Higgins in the library to Old Man Peterson who secretly waters the prize-winning roses behind the science block."
