The air in the school hall crackled with anticipation, thicker than the jam on Lekgetho G’s breakfast toast. This was it. The grand finale of the Genius Games. The final challenge. And what a challenge it was! Mrs. Periwinkle, her spectacles perched precariously on the end of her nose, announced with a flourish, “The final challenge, my young geniuses, is to build… the wobbliest tower!”
A collective gasp rippled through the hall. Wobbliest? Not the tallest? Not the strongest? But the wobbliest? A few of the other contestants, their faces already etched with concentration, exchanged confused glances. They’d been practicing building towers that stood stoically, towers that defied gravity with rigid determination. Now, they were being asked to build something that practically begged to tumble.
Lekgetho, however, felt a familiar fizz of delight bubble up inside him. This was *his* kind of challenge. While Grumbles, standing a few feet away with his arms crossed and a thundercloud brewing over his brow, scowled at the instructions, Lekgetho’s mind was already whirring like a well-oiled, if slightly eccentric, cogs. He tapped his chin, his bright orange beanie – miraculously found nestled under a pile of discarded art supplies after Grumbles’ dastardly deed – bobbing with the rhythm of his thoughts.
