“He’s been using this place for years,” Liam murmured, his voice low, echoing in the cavernous space. Dust motes danced in the weak beams of their flashlights, illuminating stacks of crates and forgotten machinery. “A hub for his… less legitimate operations.”

Elara traced a line of text with a trembling finger. “She wrote about it. The ‘hidden ledger’… it’s not a ledger, it’s a record of… transactions. Payments. To people. For things.” Her voice hitched. “Things that would ruin lives.”
